          State Titles Draw

The Redcliffe Redbacks Under 18 Representative Squad is a group of the most talented Indoor Cricket players in the Redcliffe Area, selected to represent Redcliffe City in the prestigeous State Titles Invitational Tournament to be held late September in 1999. The squad has been narrowed down to eleven players who must firstly earn an invitation to the championships via their performances in qualifying games beginning May 6th.

The squad has been finalised, and features:

Cameron Mutton
Michael Edwards
Nathan Hunt
Oliver Sims
Todd Strathearn
Brendan Leslie
Marcus Randall
Simon Purkiss
Lee Lewis
 Matt Jennings
Daniel Diefenbach

The team is being coached this year by Andrew Ryan. The under 18's will go through a rigourous qualifying series to earn their spot in the South-East Queensland playoffs. Their job is made even more difficult due to the fact that they have no home games in their schedule.

Redcliffe are forced to travel long distances for their first 2 matches at Ipswich Indoor Sports, while their next journey takes them to Toowoomba. The official draw for the Qualifying Series is:

16th May at Ipswich Indoor Sports vs Ipswich
vs Tingalpa
6th June at Carl Rackemanns vs Parklands
vs Caboolture
4th July at Caboolture Indoor Sports vs Rackemanns
    BYE
18th July at Parklands Indoor Sports vs Beenleigh
vs Parklands
8th August at Beenleigh Indoor Sports  vs Ipswich
vs Tingalpa

The State Titles themselves will be played at Ipswich Indoor Sports Centre on September 25th and 26th. This weekend is a gruelling test of both physical ability, team unity and mental stamina with up to 6 games being played in the space of 2 days. The rewards at the end a great for those who succeed however, as the Redback's predecessors last year found out when they bought home Redcliffe's first ever Indoor Cricket State Title Trophy. It was a fitting climax to a tremendous weekend for the 'backs, triumphing with only 7 men against a Victoria Point side featuring two Australian representatives.
You can be sure all of Redcliffe will be backing them again this time!
