Marcus Randall

Age: 17
Bowls: Right Arm Medium
Bats: Left-Handed
Fields: Corner
Nickname: "Randall"

This baseballer turned indoor cricketer could turn out to be the surprise packet for the Redbacks year. Not only does he bring with him a strong throw and solid batting ability, Randall has adapetd very well to the confines of the indoor cricket arena using his quick hands to great effect.

Bowlers will stray on to the hip of Marcus at their own risk. Randall has a savage pull shot which could well injure a few legside fielders before the year is up. Generally, his mid-wicket stance allows for a solid technique on the legside. Randall's main weakness however is inconsistency on the offside. He will need to work on this area very hard if he is to reach the scores he is capable of.

By far and away Marcus' weakness is his bowling. As with Brendan Leslie, was not blessed with great height, and this can sometimes lead to jerkiness in the bowling action when trying to work up too much pace. When on target though, Randall can be a very tricky customer as he skids the ball through at a dangerous height. The deveopment of a good change of pace (both slower and quicker ball) could make him a danger.

What Randall does bring to the team is a sparkling set of hands in the froncourt. Magnificent hand-eye coordination and the ability to release the ball quickly and accurately makes him a weapon in the corner spot. His contributions to the frontcourt, especially against the Redbacks quality opponents, will be vital in a side that lacks experience and sharpness in the area.
