Lee is one of the enigmas of the Redbacks team, in that his teammates will never know what he is going to come up with next. Many question whether Lewis himself actually does. More importantly though, Lewis does bring a great amount of enthusiasm to the line up, and is really the only spinner in the current squad, pending negotiations with Colts legspinner Brian Keane.
Lewis does not possess a marvellous batting technique by any stretch of the imagination, but he does play what would be regarded as solid Indoor Cricket shots. Very strong square of the wicket on both sides, he rarely plays a poor shot using the square cut or pull. Front foot shots are more suspect however.
It is his bowling however that will make or break Lee's season. It is rumoured that South Africa's Paul Adams actually studied tapes of Lee bowling in the nets while developing his frog in a blender action. Lewis' action is slightly higher which allows him to generate substantial kick and bounce. This unusual style can lead to inconsistency however, and Lee has been working hard at training to gain greater control. Uses good variation including bowling from two metres behind the popping crease.
Lee could be a pleasant surprise for
the Redbacks in the field this year. Being very agile and fast, he will most likely be
employed in the frontcourt where this athleticism can be best utilised. Hands can let him down
at times though.
