Edwards would have to be the most reliable and consistent member of the team, having had a vast amount of experience over the last couple of years. Edwards is the side's first choice keeper, and he will be sorely missed when outdoor cricket comittments interfere with the Redbacks schedule. It is crucial that Redcliffe make the most of their opportunities with he and Sims in the side.
While possessing a distinctive technique and stance, Edwards rarely disappoints with the bat in hand. Rarely plays a rash shot, continually playing the ball into the front nets for the easy runs. Good speed between the wickets is also a feature of his batting.
As with his batting, Edwards is very reliable with the ball. Maybe not posessing the intimidating pace he once had, a good use of inswing claims a number of victims. Mick also has the uncanny ability to make the ball either skid or jump on regular occasions. As long as he keeps it tight, Edwards should have an effective campaign with the ball in hand.
In the matches that he does play, Edwards
first point of call will be standing behind the stumps as the Redbacks' first
choice gloveman. Has a consistent return to the bowler, and gloves the ball solidly.
While maybe not possessing the dynamite ability of a Matthew Steley, Edwards
will provide no-frills work with the gloves.
